Surveys reveal that most tibians were anxious to try the new update. They wanted to see the new zones and monsters, others just wanted to see how pyramids would look in Tibia. And others just wanted to get a new change on their routine, tired from hunting the same things in the very same spots over and over. As Templar of the Darkness explains, "I was really anxious about it, since I was quite bored before the update finally came". Others, the few, were just happy with tibia as it was before the update so they didn't mind at all.
The first thing that was asked to people was about their first opinion when they had just seen the city and had a walk around it. Opinions vary here, while some liked it all and loved the pyramids and everything, other thought it was too complex and unhandy for a city, but 18 out of 20 players just changed their mind with time, and they liked it in the end, although two of them didn't like it at all.
As Simizu explained "Darn, I don't really think pyramids do fit in tibian perspective. It seems like if you were going down while you are going upstairs and it's annoying!!". On the opposite side, Jake El'Valkyrie commented "It was abit of a walk from Darashia to Ankrahmun but when I arrived there I just loved it, especially the pyramids, I really enjoy climbing them". People liked the background atmosphere on the area, with misterys and quest that remain unsolved and therefore unspoiled.
On the new graphics
When we asked about the graphics, surprisingly enough, a majority seemed to like them. Some love them, some just like them, as Conde Vampichoco de la maldad: "I like them, they are nice, but not as great as I had expected", but almost everyone disliked the new gems. "They ruined my decoration" cries the average tibian. The most beloved graphics are: New trees, new monsters, new cactuses, pyramids, walls and floors of ankrahmun, the dwarf statue. "New graphics look so realistic" commented many of them.
But this update did bring surprises for all. Some were bad and some were great. And there was even a thing that was great for some and awful for others: the new abilites of monsters. Some beg: "I can't hunt GS's anymore. What are we paladins suppossed to do now? We want the old poh back" and others celebrate it, as Mouz, who says "Yay! now I have PoH with no noobs luring stuff on me!".
On the same line, Subaru-Sama comments "Right now it will be harder for troublemakers to lure things away. As start, you can't lure them unless you are a high level person". Another surprise that awaited the player was the mute system. Players liked it, although some rookgaardians complain about it being too weak, as for they can see the same spammers all the day spamming over and over, waiting for the buffer to empty and not get muted. And last, the most liked surprise was the abbility to sell and buy multiple things to npcs at once.
About the new monsters
About the new monsters there are all sorts of opinions. Some say they are silly, some like them and some find them a good way to level up, like a high level mage that said "the Ancient Scarabs are neat for mages to hunt since they aren't inmune to fire and they get paralyzed by their mates, so you can overcome them with cheap gfbs". Djinns were a bit of deception, most people have only seen the one under the serpentine tower of Ankrahmun and they think that's too few for a so long awaited creature. But many love the green djinn, as some young adventurers said "He's cool, haven't you seen that? He makes you drunk and converts you to a rat". Scarabs (yes, those tiny green bugs that yield 120 experience points) are a point of discussion.
Ankrahmun's Pharaoh plus a subtle hint ;)
Some think it's silly that such a monster can be that strong, but others find it handy for experience and it's loot is precious for gem collectors. Larvas, cobras and hyaenas are almost ignored by powergamers but other people likes these details that help to create the atmosphere. The general thought about monsters are that ancient scarabs aren't bad, but give poor and unsellable loot, the scarabs are a little silly but nice for gameplay, and that there are too few djinns. Some also complain about the great mummies not being implemented: "Cipsoft have lost a great opportunity to implement a new strong monster, which people would have been pleased to kill".
On the new areas
The new areas are another hot point of all updates. In this case, most adventurers think it's too poor for leveling. People really needed leveling spots like the dwarven mines that are really crowdy or PoH, that had the same problem. But now they haven't PoH nor anything else but dwarven mines, that are even more crowded than before. The new caves aren't such great experience places, nor the tombs of the undeads either. Some also found the new dragon lairs a bit too exagerated on the multiple dragon spawns. "Hah! like if someone else than bubble or wurzel would hunt there" complained Hench Braeh. The adventurers aren't very pleased with this aspect of the update, they think that respawn in the new areas is too low, or that there are too many things together to gain levels there.
To sum up, the average calification for the update given by the interviewed tibians was 3/5.
People would have liked more comfortable hunting places, and better respawns. For most, the update has solved nothing about this problem, but made it worse, as for now normal people can't hunt in PoH. No real strong monster to hunt and have loot was introduced, and that was also a big deception. The gems were also a big flaw on the update. On the positive side, mute system, the multiple trading with npcs, the new city and improved graphics made this update pass the very hard test that players do unvoluntaryly with each update of Tibia.
