More about the role of each vocation
I will try to answer this in short:
Knight: We did not see the knight as a mere blocker and tank. The special thing about a knight is that he is a close combat and melee fighter. This update stays true to this since he has no spells. The new things are special attacks with his weapon, as indeed a knight cannot do these without a weapon in his hand. Also, all new attacks are melee attacks. However, you know from basically every medieval setting that knights are heros that can fight very well and distribute a lot of damage if they can get close. This is what we added this time.
Sorcerer: He is the true battle magician. This is why he is weak in melee fighting and tries to keep at a distance. He is vulnerable to direct attacks yet can cause a lot of damage with his magic, if he is still fit enough (has enough mana). The sorcerer is the combat magician. We intend to inhance exactly this in the next update which means that the sorcerers will gain power next time, just in a different manner.
Druid: Of course, a druid is also a true magician, but a more friendly kind. He is therefore more skilled in healing than in dealing damage. In the coming round, we will work on drawing a more concrete special picture of the druid in particular. He will of course also gain power similar to the sorcerers and they will have a few new things in common, but they will also get specifics distinguishing them from the sorcerers.
Paladin: Well, our paladin has his major strength in distance fighting. However, he is also quite good at yielding close combat weapons and shields. Finally, he has some magical affiliation but by far not as much as the true magicians. The nature of his magic abilities might be addressed in the next round too, and if we have enough time for that, it will be different to the magic of sorcerers as well as druids.
Now with the current status, these roles might not be so clear. That is why we keep saying that the balancing is not over yet, and certainly we have not forgotten the differences between the vocations and the charm those differences bring with them.
