Some more explanations why this balancing was necessary

There are two points why this balancing, especially the reduction of level influence on the magic formula, was necessary:

Mages, especially sorcerers, were too powerful. They were able to gain experience and money in too little time. They were able to dominate entire servers with their high power and it was near impossible to defend oneself against them.

I guess this is something on which there is a broad consent. Of course, it is arguable how to handle such an imbalance problem. Many have said that just raising the others would be the best way to go. It would of course have been possible. However, if we were to increase everything to match, people would soon run out of challanges because everyone would just be too strong in the sum. Additionally, there is a second reason why we decided to go the way we did:

In the next update, we wish to introduce a lot of new things which will help make each vocation very special. We plan to focus mages even more on magic and thereby also add more advantages in that area. This will also be used to finally set clearer differences in the special abilities of druids compared to sorcerers. Overall, this will mean that both mage classes will gain more flexibility and more power in the next update, but in a different way than by level. Now if we were to do that with the old power mages had, we would finally have their total power go through the roof. Therefore, we had to limit the current system so that we have some room left for the new things to come on top of this system.

I cannot give any real details yet, but I will give a few general points that we plan to work on.
