Lo0ok:

Cytuj:
One long-term goal we have is that we want to remove the PKing part in the Tibia Rules completely. This should minor the work load for our team and abolish the uncertanity about the individual judgments made every day. This posting introduces another step in this direction, so we will just modify the rules a bit (which will be explained below).

Of course we need new game mechanics to avoid the bad side of PKing that frustates a lot of players. This is especially the reason why we work on this topic. Players and a lot in this team are already complaining for a long time that something has to be done to make the game more fun (for the majority of players, of course this will not satisfy all, especially some hardcore PK-fans/abusers ).

The new game mechanic is neutral and does not bring "real" justice. It cannot "really" differ between the "good" and the "bad" players. But it will cover the most typical situations and show some limits what king of PvP is ok and what not, no matter if you are a "good protector" or a "bad looter".

A first step of the above goal was made some updates ago. All deaths of characters and the reason for the deaths are recorded. This helps a gamemaster a lot in judging about a PK. We will now contimue this path.

Beside the main feature we will optimize some current parts of the game mechanics around combat (most points are collected by bugreports by our community, thansk for the hints!):
* Tricks to avoid entries in the death record will be fixed (bear trap, fields etc.)
* Not only the one that made the last damage to a character that dies as a consequence of that will be recorded but also the one that made the most damage to the victim (which is of course in most case the same character). In other words you cannot trick anymore with low level PKs when hunting in a group with "clean" high levels.
* If you PKed a character you will get a logout-block of at least 15 minutes instead of 10 (including PZ and kick block). All other logout rules will stay as they are!
* Trash characters with very low levels will be reset to Rookgaard 2 levels earlier, so droping to level 5 results in the complete reset.

Now to the new main feature, marking PKs. As said before this will not be a perfect solution but for sure a huge improvement for the game and a help for the gamemasters.

The basic rule:
Do not attack or damage any character that is not maked by a "skull" or you are judged as a "bad" guy whith unpleasent consequences!
In other words attacking, damaging or even killing characters with any kind of skull mark has no bad consequences for you. You are free to hunt as many of the marked ones as you want. I said no consquence ? Of course your opponent may hit back or hunt you afterwards. This will be as before, just the game mechanic will not harm you but maybe the "bad" marked one (or a hunter guild, also called PKKs ).

What is a "bad" kill and what is a "good" kill?
Whenever a character is killed by another (or two because someone else made the most damage) and the victim had no skull mark, so at least the final killer is judged as a "bad" PK (because he has a skull mark, and maybe the other too if his mark is not over or renewed by any other combat at the moment of the death). This will be added in the death record! If you have killed repeatly innocent characters a gamemaster can banish you, no matter why you killed! On the other hand you can kill as many "marked PK" as you want with no fear a wrong banishment will be done by a gamemaster anymore. This will make the work much easiler for COs and GMs. The change in the Tibia Rules will cover that and replace the old low level and mass random rule. two final note about this part:
* Do not let others provoke you to attack them. You have to bear the consequences!
* Do not kill anyone that is not marked, no matter why you do not like him. You have to bear the consequences!

...

Marking rules:
* First Attacker / Right of Defence: Whenever a character attacks another player, the attacked player has the right to hit back without any consequences. Therfore the first attacker is marked by a green skull only for the attacked one. This green skull will only show up if the first attacker does not already have a skull (so it would make no difference). The green skull is a temporary mark and will vanish when the logout-block of the attacker is over (but this includes the mark is also extended as the logout-block)
* Temporary PK mark: Whenever a character attacks another character that has no skull mark at all he will get an orange skull mark that all players can see! In other words the marked one attacks an innocent and that is not ok, so he is the "bad" guy in the sense of the game mechanic. Now all (e.g. the friends of the victim around) can attack and kill the marked attacker without any consequences. The orange skull will also disappear when the logout block of the attacker is over. Please compare exactly with the defence rule! The organe PK can hit back to any "friend" of his victim if he does not attack also the friend before because the "friends" will be marked green for him, but only for him.
* Longterm PK mark: Whenever a character got too many "bad" kills recorded within certain periodes the game will punish him in two ways (and maybe in later updates with even more!). At first the character will get a red skull mark that all players can see for at least the next month after his "bad" kill rate drops under all limits. the other consequence is that all characters with red marks lose all items everytime they die, I repeat all! This will be the bounty for all PKKs to show them how to behave in future. Finally the three limits you should not reach or you will get this hardest mark:
- 3rd bad kill within 24 hours (1 day).
- 5th bad kill within 7 days.
- 10th bad kill within a month (30 days).
Again, whenever one of these limits is reached or you get over one you get the red mark resp. it is extended for at least one month.

The new feature will bring a motivation to respect other players and not to kill whenever you want. Every "good" player is indirectly protected by the game mechanic because the aggressor may get serious trouble by his mark and even worse by loosing all item when dying. Moreover it will enable gamemasters to judge easier over game destroying PKs that dramatically step over the mentioned limits for the longterm mark. On the other hand the new feature will not make PKing impossible and has some options for you how to act in-game.

Finally we will add another feature for guildwars and duals but I will post this later. First please just focus on the common PvP situation, even if training got another disadvantage, you get free to be killed.

The replacement of the Amulett of Life:
About one year ago we add the AoL to the game. Already shortly after the change it had some fans but also a lot hated it. In the long run we experienced that it grants a too powerful protection with many bad consequences for the game and the community. Too safe characters can do to much harm in several ways. Inspired by all the many suggestions you made since the introduction of the AoL we mixed some of them. It is absolutely necessary that the "protection" is not absolutely perfect, every reduction of the loses is already a huge advantage. Moreover the item was tradable and collectable which gave "powergaming" another advantage. So we had also to reduce the tempo to get ready again. Finally it had to be a solution that will fit to the new PK features. So, here we go:
The current amulett will stay in the game but it will loose its function. Then the sage Eremo will buy the amulett for the same price it is currently sold by him. So nobody will lose anything and you are free to keep the senseless item or not. We will post mention this information in the next news to avoid that players will trick others.
After the update you will find some new places near 4 towns (one will be in a premium area) in Tibia where a priest will bless you for a little donation compareable to the 1/4 of the price of the old AoL. You can get every blessing only once in every town. Each blessing will reduce the lose of experience and skills by 1% compared to the 10% lose normal characters have or the 7% promoted characters have. The best reduction of loses you can reach is to get all four blessings and to be a promoted character, so you will losse only 3% instead of 10%. Once a one to four times blessed character dies the blessings are gone and you have to visit again the priests to get as many blessings as you want.
The blessings will grant no extra protection for your items! Therefore you will lose all countainers when you die and maybe some equipment (each place with a chance of 10%). But if you are a longterm marked PK (red skull) you loose all items everytime you die!

Your comments are welcome and we hope we these features will be ok for most of you. It is not a question of personal taste but what will be the best for all in Tibia, please do not forget that important aspect. Thanks.

Greetings,
Guido
